“I was able to fully paint a vision and put all of the pieces together instead of just putting out something for the sake of putting it out, which I never really like to do anyway,” he said. “I was able to work more hands on with this one, sort of the way I am with my mixtapes, where we strive for the best and we really don’t settle or accept anything other than the best,” Khalifa said. “Blacc Hollywood” may no longer entirely represent Khalifa’s life as it is now, but he at least feels the album features his best work yet. Then “Blacc Hollywood,” the studio album Khalifa originally talked of releasing before the end of 2013, but was put on the shelf - a move that opened a window to release “28 Grams” - arrived on Aug. In May he released his latest in a long line of mixtapes, “28 Grams,” which was far more substantial than the usual such project, checking in with a whopping 28 tracks. Khalifa may not be singing such a happy tune with his pending divorce in the cards, but he has certainly seemed inspired musically over the last year and a half. Just being a happier individual, just having him to take me away, it takes my mind away from everything, and then I can go back to it, that’s really what’s different and helped me have a different approach.” “So having a son, I’ve been able to like experience things with him, whether it be like singing all day or laughing and being silly and just joking and stuff like that, whereas before, my life might have been a little bit more serious during those times. “All of my music comes from just living and life, and as long as I’m feeling happy and creative and (having) fun in my life, I’m able to make that kind of music,” Khalifa said in a 2014 interview - before his wife announced intentions to file for divorce in September. But the upbeat tone of the album makes sense considering Khalifa feels fatherhood, in particular, flavored the upbeat music he made for the album. That latest turn of events probably puts “Blacc Hollywood” in a different, and possibly ironic, light. Then, just as initial promotion was winding down for his new album, “Blacc Hollywood,” his marriage to Rose hit the rocks in September amid his wife’s allegations of Khalifa’s misbehavior. Since he released his last album, 2012’s “O.N.I.F.C.,” Khalifa has faced some major changes in his home life, as he married model Amber Rose and had a son, Sebastian, in February 2013. Tickets range from $35-$55 and are available through Smith’s Tix outlets or at the UCCU Center Box Office. Khalifa will bring his act to Utah Valley University’s UCCU Center on Friday. Hip-hop artist Wiz Khalifa has pretty much been on the fast track to stardom since the release of his first CD in 2006.
